Official reissue of Fela Ransome Kuti's 1973 masterpiece. Gentleman found the afrobeat pioneer once again making poignant social commentary through righteous rhythms and grooves. Along with his Africa 70 band, they challenge the colonial mentality of his fellow Africans who adopt European customs and clothing in the African heat (hence the cover art featuring a monkey on a suited body) - "I know what to wear but my friend don't know / I am not a gentleman like that! / I be Africa man original." Of course as Fela ponders these social issues, the underlying groove cannot be denied. Also included are the two afrobeat scorchers "Igbe" and "Fe Fe Eye Ne Fe." Quality pressing with proper repro of the original cover from Knitting Factory Records. Recommended.
