Originally released back in 2004, Four Tet's contribution to the Late Night Tales compilation series has been in high demand for a repress. The compilation serves to highlight Kieran Hebden's wide ranging taste, especially what he was into nearly a decade ago. There's plenty to take in, from the cosmic jazz of Rahsaan Roland Kirk to the tape loop cut ups of Terry Riley. In between there's plenty of post rock from the likes of Tortoise and left field electronica from Manitoba. Hebden showcases his love for hip hop as well. Gravediggaz and Madvillain are represented, as well as Madlib label mate Koushik. And don't forget that Four Tet has been a dedicated digger since the beginning. There's hard to find psyche rock from Smoke and Linda Perhacs. There's plenty to take in with Late Night Tales, and it's quite an enjoyable ride. Limited edition 180 gram double vinyl repress, includes free download.
