  • One for the skaters. Official issue of Kenny Dixon Jr.’s super funky edit of Funkadelic’s “Cosmic Slop” (a slightly different edit was released a few years ago on his KDJ imprint). Moodymann’s version extends the original psych-funk classic to nearly 10 minutes and ramps up the bongos. Side B sees Moody taking on another highlight from the Cosmic Slop LP, “Let’s Make It Last,” this time under the name his mama gave him but in similarly restrained fashion. Both taken from the forthcoming Funkadelic Reworked By Detroiters comp which sees the outfit’s catalog reinterpreted by Moody, Underground Resistance, Andres, Recloose, Amp Fiddler, Marcellus Pittman and more, but you’ll need to grip this if you want both cuts in their loud & unadulterated side-long form.
