Italo disco heat from 1984! Timely reissue of this hard to find classic jam. With all of the Italo reissues dropping lately it's been refreshing to see some of the harder to find cuts getting a second time around. Funky Family was the duo of producer Nicola Nicolosi and vocalist Dora Carofiglio who would go on to have massive pop hits with Novecento. "Funky Is On" is just the right mix of drum machine, synthetic bass and female vocals. Simple but effective. The A side features the original and radio mixes. The B side is given over to two remixes that beef up the sound for today's clubs. Legendary Italian DJs Leo Mas and Fabrice provide an instrumental dub that's perfect for that dark basement vibe, while DJ Rocca pumps up the vocal mix. Recommended.
