Gary Davis was New Jersey's answer to Peter Brown. Although he was not as prolific as Brown, Davis applied a similar, distinctive multi-genre approach. On his Chocolate Star imprint, he fused disco, electro, and hip-hop, exemplified by the uber-classic (and super-pricey) Chocolate Star EP (CS 1554), release in 1982. For this Kay Dee release, Kenny Dope got a hold of the EP masters and remixed it two of the biggest tracks "Professor is Here" and "The Pop." In addition, this is the first time either of these tracks has appeared on 45. Expect big boy drums and basslines with that signature futurist vibe. Highly recommended.
