Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad, collectively known as Girlpool, are back with their second full-length. The guitar-and-bass team broke out of the Los Angeles DIY scene with 2015's Before the World Was big, and for Powerplant, the duo adds a drummer to the sparse folk-punk aesthetic that's come to define its sound. Despite the full-band approach, however, the very intimacy that Tucker and Tividad are able to conjure up remains as the centerpiece, and their simple, introspective, and refined songwriting produces instant favs like "123," "It Gets More Blue," "Corner Store," "Powerplant," and "Sleepless." This is the indie-exclusive translucent red vinyl pressing, limited to 300 copies.
