Long awaited compilation of highlights from Gloria Taylor's brief career. Luv N' Haight has put together five singles recorded by Taylor between 1971 and 1977 into one impressive package. She worked closely with songwriter, arranger, and producer Walt Whisenhunt (who was also her husband at the time). The soul singer's records were released through Whisenhunt's independent labels, which explains their limited availability. Frequently bootlegged, it's refreshing to have an official compilation of Taylor's material. There is plenty of pain and emotion in the vocals while Whisenhunt's productions paint a completely unique world for them to live. Psychedelic guitar solos cascade into soul strings and funky percussion. The whole lot is bathed in enough reverb to satisfy the most ardent dub aficionados. Includes the songs: "Love Is A Hurtin' Thing," "How Can You Say It," "Deep Inside Of You," and Taylor's spirited cover of Dolly Parton's "Joelen." Thirteen tracks in all. Released by Luv N' Haight on 180 gram double vinyl housed in a triple gatefold sleeve with a download code.
