Fifth album from Bay Area punks Green Day. On Nimrod., Billy Joe Armstrong & co. set out to record a set of stand-alone songs rather than a cohesive album, and the whale of the set is most certainly the acoustic “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life),” a song that actually pre-dates Dookie but wasn’t recorded until the Nimrod. sessions. The song enjoyed massive crossover success and quickly became one of their most requested and well-known numbers to date, even appearing in the final season of Seinfeld (Editor’s note: I honestly don’t remember this, will confirm and report back). Pressed on double vinyl for the first time (previous pressings squished the album’s 18 tracks onto a single LP), this 20th anniversary edition on yellow vinyl includes a custom etching on the D side and is housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with lyrics and extensive liner notes printed on the inside. Also includes “Hitchin A Ride,” “King For A Day,” “Nice Guys Finish Last” and more.
