Peter Quill's only connection to earth is a mixtape, which consists of various hits from 1962 - 1986. This pic disc features songs from that tape, and the selections set the stage for some of the movie's most memorable moments. We're introduced to one of the songs when Peter Quill sings 10cc's "I'm Not In Love" to distract himself from his sick mom, and not long after he gets kidnapped and is taken to an alien planet. James Gunn put the soundtrack together when he was writing the movie, and certain songs would even inspire him to write scenes. He's got Quill juxtaposing the violence of raccoons in prison with "Hooked On A Feeling" and singing "Ooh, child, things are gonna get easier" to the main villain. When you hear The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," it will probably take you to the closing credits with Groot dancing around. This is an Awesome Mix of tunes—if you missed out on the actual cassette release, get on this collectible Guardians of the Galaxy treat.
