  • Warren Kroll and Steven Lutes are High Tides. Paradise Daze is the duo's second full-length, and just like its self-titled 2015 debut, it was "recorded entirely under the influence of Hawaiian shirts and conch shell necklaces." Musical escapism at its finest, the record channels a lot of influences—Beach Boys, Underworld, '80s pop, '90s IDM, classic dub—into a chillwave/downtempo framework: "if Boards of Canada sipped a Sex on the Beach spiked with codeine, you might get something vaguely similar…" Expect a ton of bright synths, drum machine work full of "drugged funk," and a piercing sense of melancholy that runs about the entire project. Check out "Tidal Movement," "Summer Reflections," "Swaying Palms," and "Catch The Wav."
