Round three of How Do You Are's laid-back & groovy Too Slow To Disco series (not counting last year's The Ladies Of Too Slow To Disco - not to be missed). As a kid I used to sit in the back seat of the car and roll my eyes at this sort of shit on the radio... White Sox hat, draped in Polo, The Chronic tape in my Walkman. Now, here I am, completely burnt out and priced out of all the sick funk and boogie records (sigh) with seemingly nowhere to turn. But a lot of this old guy music that I used to hate on is seriously tough, and German selector DJ Supermarkt has done all the research for us and organized it into these neat comps. If the 10 year old me could see me nodding along to a Grateful Dead record ("Shakedown Street") in my thirties... well, I guess it kinda makes sense. Other tracks to check out: The Jeremy Spencer Band's "Cool Breeze," Pratt & McClain's "Whachersign," Stars N Bars' "Stars And Bars" and Rob Mehl's "Taste & See." Limited edition vinyl pressing on azure blue colored wax, housed in deluxe gatefold sleeve (you can almost taste the salt blowing off the Pacific ocean when you open it). Plus, this pressing comes with a code for free digital download, so on your next trip down to Fort Tilden, roll down the windows and ask for the aux.
