Amazing collection of Indian electro-funk and synth pop goodness by way of the Bombay Connection. If you think the cover art looks awesome, just wait till you hear the gems contained within! Fire Star compiles the work of South Indian composer Iliayaraaja produced for several Bollywood films from the years of 1985-1989. Being that it was the funkier times of the 80's, you can expect the compositions to feature plenty of synthesizers, drum machines, and even some vocoders for good measure. Check the tough disco drums and funky synth work on "Vikram," and "Adi Rani" for a taste, then boogie on down to the sound of "Pattu Engey" and "One Two" that burn hotter than Phaal curry in the dead of summer. Other highlights include "Pavala Malligai," "Disco King," the slow groover "Baby" and the upbeat new wave joint "I Want To Tell You Something." Obviously these joints are all ridiculously rare and impossible to find, so big ups to Bombay Connection for another huge hook up! A must cop for fans of exotic synth funk and anyone who was into that 10 Ragas To A Disco Beat record. Recommended.
