This one is going to be setting things off throughout the summer. Norway's Jaga Jazzist have been crafting futuristic jazz for labels like Ninja Tune for nearly two decades. "Oban" sees the group in fine form, layering percussive and synthetic elements to create an evolving, cinematic piece. The real highlight here however, is fellow Norwegian Todd Terje's take on the song. The seasoned disco producer builds on the underlying frenetic energy of the original; his inner funky drummer joins forces with a wild running arpeggio which gives the cut a feeling of perpetual motion. In typical Terje fashion the track takes its time turning into a cosmic disco stunner of epic proportions. Give it some space and it will be sure to make you move. And make sure to pack a copy no matter what the occasion.
