  • French labels Faces Records (home to MCDE) and Les Disques Superfriends team up with Moula Moula publishing to bring you Selected Sound, a new series that gives contemporary producers a chance to flip rare vintage library cuts from the vaults. This is the debut volume in the series and features Stones Throw's James Pants alongside Tom "Disco" Noble (check his edits on Whatchawannado and PPU) taking on the sounds of German drummer Klaus Weiss. James Pants' version of "Drums Around" introduces some sweet bass and melodies to the strictly percussive original, taking it from the sound library to left-field disco-not-disco territory. On the flip, Tom Noble does an expert boogie refix to "Drumcrazy," the perfect kind of modern funk vibe for the dancefloor. Also includes the original version of "Drumcrazy," an incredible boogie rarity. Recommended.
