  • Mitchel Van Dinther AKA Jameszoo presents an impressive debut for Brainfeeder, the label that is synonymous w/ the “modern evolution” of jazz. Fool is a free-spirited hybrid of jazz and electronics, as the Dutch producer interprets the traditional nuances of the genre with a forward musical lens. “The Zoo” is a re-imagination of a ‘70s number “Pearlie’s Swine” by Steve Kuhn, who lends vocals and Rhodes mastery for the updated take. Arthur Verocai, Brazilian composer and arranger, contributes samba guitar interpolations to the groove-doused jazz fusion of “Flu,” with “Teeth” reverberating plenty of rousing organ & violin moments before reaching a mini digital flare-up at the end. The almighty bass lord & labelmate Thundercat lays down the low end for “Meat,” and make sure to also check out “Flake” and “Toots.”
