  • The legacy of the UK hardcore scene seems to be a point of pride for many contemporary English producers. Jamie xx's latest, "All Under One Roof Raving," takes the shape of an homage to the era that does not simply recycle the sound kit, but builds on it. He takes us there by weaving samples form Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore, British artist Mark Leckey's 1999 experimental short film, throughout the track. There are loads of other 90s ephemera, as well. But that is where the looking back stops, the music is purely Jamie xx's own. Steel drum sounds, garage and jungle tinged beats, and subtle bass tones combine to make some of the producer's best work as of late. Then there's the heady nostalgia that ties it all together, creating something of a modern dancefloor classic. Single sided 12" with etching on the b side.
