On Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, Brian King & David Prowse (no, not the bodybuilder who played Darth Vader in Star Wars) serve up another batch of post-emo, hilariously self-aware punk rock. The bluesy chords and upfront guitar suggest a heavy dose of Hüsker Dü and classic rock but King’s voice immediately triggers flashbacks of the studded belts, sharp black bangs and girl jeans that surrounded us in college (the enormous, complex song titles, too, are closer to My Chemical Romance than My Bloody Valentine).
