  • Warpaint's Jenny Lee goes solo! The bass guitarist and backup vocalist hinted at a solo project via her social media for some time and we are finally treated to what could easily have been the next Warpaint album. For those obsessed with the group (we are), you might remember the funkier numbers on their 2014 self titled album. As the band fleshed out who they are, 'Right On' gives a clear impression of JLL's input on the quartet's sound. It is hard not to make comparisons in the music world these and I've always felt Warpaint gets compared to bands they sound nothing alike. With that preface I'm gonna name some bands this reminds me of and would be your 'in' if you ever wanna holler at ol' Lindberg. I'm hearing Echo and the Bunnymen alongside early The Cure, and of course those chorused bass lines can't help but recalla young Peter Hook. With that said, this Jenny Lee has a clear lineage but stands in a lane all on her own. Fantastic from front to back. Pressed on marbled Blue vinyl.
