Lab Overview

Heavy duty reissue from Chicago's Trax! Super hard to find pioneering Latin house tracks from Chicago producer Jesse Velez. Sadly Velez took his own life before the release of Super Rhythm Trax in 1985. Nearly 30 years on his original productions draw the line from Latin freestyle, New Wave and early house music. "Fire 121" shows the most New Wave influence, its lead synth riding high over an electro beat. Velez gets wild on the mic on "Girls Out On The Floor," complete with raps and chants, while showing a little Liaisons Dangereuses influence. There are plenty of up-tempo rhythms and percussion workouts throughout the record. Catchy bass lines abound as well. Hats off to Trax for a proper reissue of this lost classic. Limited edition colored vinyl pressing.
