First two EPs from Toronto singer/songwriter Jessie Reyez compiled into a double release! A pop effort with a r&b and hip-hop core, Reyez's raw, candid writing (about sexual double standards, confronting expectations, or horrible past relationships, etc.) gives her music edge. She sings & raps over a sprawling set of instruments, and the record showcases Reyez's versatility, from the charged ballads like "Apple Juice" or "Figures" to the bass-heavy turn-up moments like "Blue Ribbon" and "Shutter Island." Oh, she also sings in Spanish over beautiful acoustic guitar strums on "Sola." Other tracks to check out: "Body Count Remix," "Figures, a Reprise," and "Fuck Being Friends."
