1963 album taken from both live and studio recordings by saxophonist John Coltrane. Impressions takes recordings from Coltrane's legendary November 1961 engagement at the Village Vanguard and pairs them with two selections recorded at Van Gelder Studio in 1962 and 1963. The two studio tracks were recorded with Coltrane's classic quartet of McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones and they're joined by Eric Dolphy and Reggie Workman for the live recordings. It's an eclectic collection of tracks that mark Coltrane's evolving musical and emotional range. Includes the songs: "India," "Impressions," and "After The Rain." Four tracks in all.
