  • Third studio album from Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. Ladies Of The Canyon was originally recorded between 1969 and 1970, and serves as a transition from her earlier folk inspired release to the more sophisticated albums Mitchell would go on to release. Many of the songs feature lengthy instrumental passages, something would become fully realized on albums like Court And Spark. The flute and saxophone that appear on "For Free" and "Conversation" give a taste of the influence of jazz over many of Mitchell's subsequent recordings. The singer covers many moods, from the sunny, easygoing "Morning Morgantown" to the sentimental classic "The Circle Game" (written in response to Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain"). The album is notable for including "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Woodstock," some of Mitchell's most lasting pieces.

    • 180g black vinyl pressing
    • gatefold sleeve
