"First re-press since the initial 2019 release of critically acclaimed album featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs' lead vocalist Karen O, and Danger Mouse, one of the most influential artist/producers of the 21st Century. The new package includes the original artwork plus a 16 page booklet highlighting their interactive exhibition 'An Encounter with Lux Prima', held at Los Angeles’ Marciano Arts Foundation featuring a 360 degree soundscape of the album mixed at famed Skywalker Ranch." - 30th Century Records
Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O and famed producer Danger Mouse collab for an album that originates from "a blurry place." For Lux Prima, DM states: "we were really looking for a place rather than a sound. It was our first shared destination so we thought we'd take our time getting there." The title track offers a striking preview of what's to come; it's an atmospheric 9-minuter led by Karen O's unmistakeable vocals cutting through with calm but harrowing energy, and when the funk beat kicks in, it progresses into a trip-hop groover with masterful orchestral arrangements. "Woman" is more charged, with Karen describing "for the inner child in me that needed the bullies out there to know you don't fuck with me."
