Lab Overview

King Krule, the 22 year old wunderkind, formerly known as Zoo Kid makes music that sounds as if James Blake & Jamie XX were conjoined twins and they lived in a commune with a family made up of Vincent Gallo, Joe Strummer, and Johnny Marr. An interesting bunch, but the combination of influences reigns supreme with the latest single from Mr. Krule. The A-side "Rock Bottom" shimmers with a breezy guitar strum that soon drops into Happy Monday's esque breakbeat drums. Leaning a little more into the ethereal haze, the flip offers just as strong a track, "Octopus". More fractured drum breaks, swimming in lovely synth washes and what sounds like a French Horn solo at the end.
