  • Lala Lala is the indie rock project from Chicago-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Lillie West. She was raised in London, England but moved to LA as a teenager, eventually relocating to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was there she became familiar with the city’s underground music scene, beginning her career in earnest by purchasing a guitar off of Craigslist. She remained thoroughly underground until the release of The Lamb on (Sub Pop imprint) Hardly Art in 2018, which was universally praised and gained her many new fans. Sleepyhead was originally self-released on super limited cassette format in 2016, but Hardly Art is giving it a well-deserved reissue with new cover artwork. Unlike The Lamb, Sleepyhead is raw, direct, and free of overdubs and overthought. Recorded over the span of five days during a typically frigid Midwestern winter, it was a promising first step from a young talent that deserves a thoughtful listen. This LP is pressed on translucent cloud colored vinyl.
