Here’s a thing that happened, and is happening again. Let us explain. Second-wave Detroit techno auteur Carl Craig was an early supporter of The DFA, and the respect proved to be mutual. Mr. Craig is responsible for an even better-than-the-original remix of 2006’s "Relevee" by Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Rayna Russom, in addition to a throbbing take (under his c2 alias) of the electro-inspired title track from LCD’s Sound of Silver. LCD returns the favor on this split 12” from DFA and Planet-E. Throw is likely the most famous track by Carl Craig (released under his Paperclip People alias), aptly described by DFA as “a joyous distillation of his house, techno, and disco influences.” LCD had been covering Throw (generally as a chaser to their own acid freakout "Yeah”) since 2005, but it wasn’t recorded until the sessions for 2010’s This Is Happening. Includes Craig’s 1994 original on the flip. Out of print since 2010, This 12” is the only place to get the LCD version on wax. Recommended.
