  • Heavy duty Lee Perry compilation! High Plains Drifter focuses on the period between 1968 & 1973, an incredibly productive time for Perry. He started his Upsetter label and even experienced some chart success at the time. The producer turned out 100s of recordings, from singles to full albums, and many of them are often overlooked. As usual with Perry, there's a good amount of creativity in the recordings. Check out funky, simmering grooves from Val Bennett, The Mellowtones, The Ethiopians, Junior Byles and the Upsetters. There's quite a bit of organ pumping the grooves throughout the comp, providing a certain cohesiveness to the sound. High Plains Drifter shines a light on a unique part of Lee Perry's long career.
