Released in November of 1984, the sophomore effort from Madonna includes two singles—“Like a Virgin” and “Material Girl”— that were instrumental in creating the icon’s persona. Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Taylor Swift cite Madonna as an inspiration, and this album, produced primarily by the legend Nile Rodgers, was an early but sure indicator of the immense scale that the Material Girl’s influence would reach. A massive album that goes far beyond its pop-dance canon status, and this is the official 180g pressing courtesy of Sire Records
