Lab Overview

Lost north african funk heat repressed on 45! Magdy El Hossainy's "Music De Carnaval" is a prime example of Habibi Funk, the sound of afro-arabic grooves of the funky persuasion. The style has been gaining traction in digger circles, but originals are hard to come by, making this reissue all the more crucial. You just can't resist the smooth bassline on "Music De Carnaval" that gives way to an killer percussion workout and organ solo that truly lives and breathes the funk. Worth it for the OG alone, but we're also treated to Steven J's re-drum version that adds some hefty boom-bap over the top to guarantee head nods. Limited edition of 300, don't sleep!
