Sunny AM radio vibes from Los Angeles based Mild High Club. The songs that make up Skiptracing travel in the lanes opened up by artists like Ariel Pink and Mac DeMarco. Mild High Club's Alex Brettin carries the lighthearted attitude of the aforementioned artists while mining 60s and 70s staples like T. Rex, Steely Dan and Todd Rundgren for influence and ideas. There's a heavy funk and jazz-rock vibe to the album, as well. Brettin seems to have a keener ear for sound and production that sets him apart from being just another DeMarco pretender. The sound of Skiptracing belongs strictly to Mild High Club, no one else is doing what they do the way that they do it. So slip into something comfortable, pour yourself some rose, turn your eyes to the sunset and prepare yourself to get lost in a little Skiptracing. Includes the songs: "Tesselation," "Skiptracing," and "Homage." Eleven tracks in all. Released by Stones Throw Records on black vinyl housed in a full color sleeve.
