Miles Davis' electric period precursor. Lesser hailed as one of Davis' greater moments ala Bitches Brew, Filles De Kilimanjaro is just as significant a recording as it marked the turning point for Davis and his second 'great' quintet. The all star line up of Davis along with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Ron Carter, Dave Holland, and Tony Williams reads like someone's fantasy jazz band league and their playing is nothing short of perfecto. The album is much more indebted to Jazz traditions yet the fusion qualities are present but not nearly as pronounced as Bitches Brew. Mobile Fidelity has reissued the album on a definitive 45 RPM, limited, numbered 180g vinyl edition.
