Lab Overview

It's been called a landmark session, the best jazz album of all time, one of the greatest musical works of the 20th century… and with good reason. This is Miles Davis as the king of the straight jazz album. The sound floats without any bumps, no challenges to your intellect, just baby food for your brain. Or maybe it's like an aged-porterhouse with 2 side dishes ordered from a menu with no other choices. Recorded late in 1959, the lineup is the strongest of his career with a young dueling John Coltrane on tenor sax, a complimentary Cannonball Adderley on alto sax, Bill Evans on piano, Jimmy Cobb drums, and Paul Chambers bass. Essential and recommended.
