Deep and soulful house selections from the duo behind Mister Saturday Night. Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter are known for their weekend parties that bring some of the best of underground house and techno to Brooklyn. The duo has been throwing Mister Saturday Night along with their outdoor Mister Sunday party since 2009. They launched the party's eponymous label with Anthony Naples' celebrated Mad Disrespect 12" and have gone on to release an eclectic mix of quality singles over the past few years. To close out 2014 they dropped Weekends And Beginnings, an 18 track mix that was recorded at one of their parties the previous summer. The selections on the mix highlight the duo's taste for all things deep whether it be house or techno or somewhere in between. Weekends And Beginnings Sampler Vol.2 collects three cuts from the mix and they are all worth having. There's the oft overlooked deep house gem, "Phazzled" from Ike Release. Originally out on M>O>S Recordings in 2012, this is one of those cuts that should just live in your bag. Gospel house comes from the Tommy Musto version of Jasper Street Co.'s 1998 soul-drenched classic "Love Changes." And then there's the Motor City Drum Ensemble remix of Caribou's "Leave House," a subtle grower that's filled with plenty of vocals and natural percussion. Quality material all around.
