A peak into the deep crates of MCDE. In addition to killing it on original production, Danilo Plessow (aka Motor City Drum Ensemble) is also one hell of a DJ. After hearing him play (check his Dekmantel Boiler Room), it's easy to think of MCDE as a DJ's DJ in the way he can throw together rare disco, sweaty basement house, and funky gems all in a seamless, energized set. And it's not just the technicality of the clean mixing that makes him standout, but the selections themselves. That's what makes this Selectors compilation so special as it shares some of these deep and diverse gems from MCDE's personal crates. Here we are treated to choice cuts ranging from jazzy house grooves (DJ Slym Fas, House Of Jazz, and 20 Below), soulful disco funk (Ahzz, Bill Deal, and Licky), and even some deep jackin' rarities (Risque III). It's obvious this dude is digging deeper than most for his sets, and we're lucky to have a piece! Pressed up on import double vinyl with gatefold sleeve featuring detailed liner notes about each selection. Recommended!
