Larry Heard's debut album as Mr. Fingers arrived in the UK via the Jack Trax label in 1989; it was more of a compilation than a proper album (the R&B-infused Introduction LP would come a few years later on MCA) collecting his in-demand house tracks, many of which were unavailable on CD and impossible to find on 12" in the UK. Despite being heavily bootlegged and remaining in strong demand through all the permutations of electronic music over three decades, Amnesia (known as Ammnesia due to a misprint on the original sleeve, corrected on this edition for better or for worse ) was never officially released in the States, until now. This first official reissue on Heard's own Alleviated imprint has been thoughtfully expanded onto six sides of vinyl from the original 2LP configuration, giving these tracks the space they deserve to sing out in high fidelity. It's got all the big ones: eternal Fingers classics "Can You Feel It," "Mystery Of Love," "Beyond The Clouds" and "Washing Machine," god-tier album cuts "Slam Dance," "Bye Bye" and "Stars" and of course the incredible title track. We all need this.
