  • Nguzunguzu's debut EP on Innovative Leisure went with the quickness when it was released back in 2010. So fast the we were not even able to pick it up! Well our prayers have been answered and the ish has been repressed. The duo of Asma Maroof and Daniel Pineda pack a tropical bass heatwave on two side of black plastic. The music seems rooted in house, but is splattered with sped up cumbia rhythms, digital accordions and all manner of dark, bassy elements. They sample liberally, nothing is sacred, and their reference points are all over the map. You might suspect that there's a certain and tongue in cheek-ness to it all, especially with the Art Of Noise referencing "Moments In Sex" (side note: get your ears on their Moments In Mixtape if you can). Bottom line is Nguzunguzu know what's up and so should you. Cop this before it's gone again. Recommended.
