Nightmares On Wax, Warp's longest serving artist, is back with his first full length in 5 years. For his 7th long player George Evelyn is full channeling the vibrations of his current place of residence, Ibiza. Having moved from Leeds 7 years ago the producer and DJ seems to be fully immersed in life on the island. Not to say that Feelin' Good is an overtly Balearic album. There are soul funk moments, Latin house reinterpretations, and heavy disco excursions throughout the record. It's almost as if you are getting a snapshot of Evelyn's Ibiza club night, Wax Da Jam. The album's sequencing definitely helps as it slow builds and then winds down from its crescendo. No slouch in the studio, Evelyn enlisted Jazzanova arranger Sebastian Studnitzky, German jazz percussionist Wolfgang Haffner and even tapped Zero 7 collaborator, Mozez, for some vocals. While this maybe the most we've heard from Nightmares On Wax in quite sometime, he does more than just retread familiar territory. Feelin' Good is a formidable effort from one of the veterans of the scene.
