  • Michael Abramson took a keen interest in the South Side nightlife of the mid '70s, and Numero Group has gathered an incredible amount of photos from the Chicago photographer for Light - On The South Side Vinyl 2LP. The 132-page book of rare images focused NOT on the performers (at Perv's House, Pepper's Hideout, The High Chaparral, The Patio Lounge, The Showcase Lounge, and more) but on the patrons, and the dashing, stylish set that frequented the aforementioned clubs come alive alongside an essay by Nick Hornby plus period club ephemera that accompany the black-and-whites. Just as fascinating is Pepper's Jukebox, a 17-track compilation that shines light on the soulful blues-funk tracks that the club-goers would have heard during the time, and numbers from the likes of Little Mac Simmons, Arlean Brown, Bobby Rush, Lady Margo, Little Ed, and more are presented on a double vinyl pressing.

    • book includes over 100 rare photos
    • music label: Numero Group 2009
