  • Country Boy Goes Dub is one of the standouts from Carl Craig's Paperclip People alias. Originally released in 1996 it's a cacophonous mix of jangly guitar and bass, and a little Liquid Liquid that settles into a prime slice of mid 90s dub techno midway through. The real reason you're looking at this limited edition red vinyl pressing though is the Marcel Dettmann remix on the flip. We first heard it on his amazing fabric 77 mix and his rework focuses on the moment the track flips into dub territory. It's all lilting piano stabs and heaving sub bass, pretty much what a Maurizio remix would have sounded like if Craig had commissioned one when this track was initially released. Finest of the Berlin school of dub techno. Recommended.
