  • There must be something in the water up in Vancouver. Or maybe it's the air. Whatever it is Jack Juston and Liam Butler of Pender Street Steppers have been taking a lot of it in. I mean, how do you make a smooth moving house track with percolating bubble sounds in it and then call it "Bubble World"? Not that I'm mad at it, I think I just want a little of whatever their taking. There's a little humor in their house, not that it's all funny business though. The B side contains a totally different world. With "Love Theme (Angelo)" they get simultaneously more out there and experimental, while managing to recall 808 State's "Pacific State" and the best hold music you've never heard. The side closes on a more meditative edge with the new age bells of "Temple Walk." It's a pleasing ride that's worth taking over and over again.
