  • Another successful psychedelic experiment from Perth's Pond. Consisting of former touring members of Tame Impala, the band sports a rotating lineup of musicians under the tutelage of leader Nick Allbrook, and once again, Kevin Parker, who was a former member, gets co-production credit for the fuzzy 10-tracker. This group says this about its 8th record: "a dejected meditation on planetary discord, water, machismo, shame, blame and responsibility, love, blood and empire." In addition to the various ideas that fuel the tracks, a lot happens musically on this "meditation"— diverse stacks of instruments and sounds lay out a groovy psych-pop backdrop that's expands the bounds of pop while remaining readily accessible. Check out "Daisy," "Selene," "The Boys Are Killing Me," and "Tasmania."
