Lab Overview

Whenever Jamie Strong (Innovative Leisure, formerly of Stones Throw) has tipped me off on a record, he's been 110% correct. Over the years, he's had a hand in selecting several Lab bestsellers. So when he dropped two simultaneous releases on his Spills label (yeah, the label that brought you that incredible Dez MJ remix) from little known (but locally respected) LA producer duo (made up of the more famous parts of Mike B and Morse Code), my ears were open like fallopian tubes. Yeah, Jamie you did it again, this shit is amazing. The sound is so LA: airy, funky, and inventive drums (reminds me a bit of Eddie C). In their own words, it's about "endless summer...  swimming, diving, floating, smoking weed, meatball subs, rafts, skateboarding, tanning, hot-tubbing and the occasional night club." Just take a listen and you'll understand my enthusiasm. Highly recommended.
