Finally back in print! Originally released in 2005, Itstrumental is Prince Paul's 4th album, and like his previous projects, it's a concept full-length. Held together by a series of "Mental Victims Unit" skits (DUN DUN, s/o SVU), the elite producer addresses depression (which he was apparently suffering from while writing the album) w/ a brilliant use of samples, and built on the theme is an elevated boom bap affair teeming with complex layers of sounds and abstract details in typical Prince Paul fashion. You really have to listen to Itstrumental from beginning to end, as the cult classic plays like a film with varying moods and a musical narrative, and Prince Paul proves once again that he is one of the most experimental and original artists in hip-hop. A must pick-up for fans!
