Lab Overview

How irresistible is the cover? Prince (R.I.P.)’s 2nd studio full-length from 1979 that spawned hits like “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” “Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?,” “Bambi,” and “Sexy Dancer.” In addition to the fuego synth funk-disco numbers, the eponymous 9-tracker packs in heartfelt-yet-sexy r&b ballads (“Still Waiting,” “It’s Gonna Be Lonely,” and more), and let’s not forget that Prince wrote, arranged, composed, produced, and performed the entire album. Prince is certainly not the shocking, erotic Dirty Mind that followed and would go on to shape his stunning, sex-charged persona, but nevertheless a classic that achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success.
