Originally released in 1987, Sign 'O' The Times is the 9th album from Prince. Recorded between 1986 and 1987 during sessions for three full-lengths that never materialized, the singular artist explores funk, soul, psych pop, electro, rock on the double LP, and it is worth noting that SOTT is the first release post the disbanding of his backing band, The Revolution. Critics and fans often rank the brilliant 16-tracker as one of the greatest albums of all time, and the three singles —"Sign o' the Times," "If I Was Your Girlfriend," "U Got the Look," remain some of the biggest tracks of the '80s. This is a must for Prince fans, other highlights include "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man," "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker," "Play in the Sunshine," and "Strange Relationship." Recommended.
