“If you don’t deal with your shit your shit deals with you.” Sarah Silverman has always been a master of balancing her never-aging cuteness with the complete and utter filth that comes out of her mouth. Playing up her innocent smirks before hammering you with brute filth has always worked too, but it hasn’t been the whole shtick. There’s always more depth to her material than some might expect. “We Are Miracles” is Silverman’s first HBO special and also won her an Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special. The material covered is classic Silverman: religion, sexuality, gender, and politics. All the silly kind of stuff you want to hear from a squeaky little baby voice. She can jump from jokes about Mother Teresa’s thigh gap to how we she shouldn’t every pander to little girls about what they can or can’t grow up to be. She can be a polarizing figure in the entertainment industry but that is largely due to the fact that she’s a woman. She is the Louis C.K. of women’s comedy but too many times his immature, foul comedy is championed while Silverman’s is put down as childish or un-lady-like. Classic double standard, guys. Comes with free MP3 download.
