  • Sault came out of nowhere less than two years ago and has already churned out 4 amazing records, this being the most recent, and in my opinion, the best. You’ve seen it before: anonymous musical collective, pitch black artwork, “let the music speak for itself”, etc… I really didn’t want to like this as much as I do. Each album is highly approachable and devoid of pretense, executed entirely on their own terms. There’s so much ground covered, from afrobeat and samba to vintage funk and AM soul to golden era rap and Chicago house; it’s safe to say whoever’s involved have spent their lives devouring and mastering these styles. Check out "Strong," "Fearless" "Son Shine" and "Free." Bonus points for the mastering which feels lightweight and unoppressive. Turntable Lab exclusive edition of 1200 on gatefold clear double vinyl (all of the first four albums are available in TTL exclusive editions); even the standard black pressings have been increasingly hard to get ahold of, especially in North America, so this should be a no brainer. Highest recommendation!
