  • The first Silver Apples album with the iconic metallic cover gets first nod amongst collectors, but the 1969 follow-up might be even better as a whole. Personally as a Mo Wax fanboy, I can't get over "I Have Known Love," the incredible sample source from UNKLE's "If You Find Earth Boring." What a haunted sound. "Ruby" sounds like archetype of the Stereolab sound, and yes in fact it was sampled by the band on their debut album. If those two credits don't stress the importance of this sound, check the epic "Water" (yup, EL-P sample) or "Confusion" which predates the whole folky indie rock set by a couple decades. Official reissue from Jackpot Records with high-quality audio taken from original master tapes. Recommended.

    • limited edition blue colored vinyl
    • sampled by UNKLE, Stereolab, El-P
    • music label: Jackpot Records 1970 / 2017
