For fans of the straight up Brooklyn timbos an trees hip hop, Dah Shinin' is somewhere near the pinnacle of the pyramid. This LP ain't gonna change the world with its lyrics or production, but it's probably the most perfect of all the Bootcamp albums. The Beatminerz got the production locked at that perfect balance of smoothest jazz loops, rough drums and the original criminal lyrics that made all the Black Moon singles so great (and the album sound weaker in comparison). First single "Bucktown" is still one of their strongest tracks alongside my sleeper favorite "Stand Strong." The album gets deep into that winter Brooklyn feel, like "Wontime" giving the evil energy to grit ya jaw and walk with a bop while your nose freezes off. The subject matter doesn't change that much, but at least they're consistent. Also includes "Timz N Hood Check," "Wrecktime" and "Sound Bwoy Bureil"; 13 tracks in all, high quality Euro import 2LP edition.
