Soul Jazz Records continues their journey through the vaults of the legendary Studio One with Studio One Sound. The recording studio at 13 Brentford Road, under the guidance of Clement 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd, helped launch the careers of numerous ska and reggae artists. While the compilation does not have an overarching theme, it features standout tracks from artists such as The Heptones, Ken Boothe, The Skatalites, Johnny Osbourne, and The Wailing Souls. Jackie Opel's "The Lord Is With Me" serves as a prime example of the 60s ska sound while Slim Smith's "Hip Hug" represents with heavy rocksteady vibes. Everything's been remastered for maximum bump-ability while preserving that gritty and smokey Studio One sound.
